I have just been in the states for a month, which included a 5 day trip to Moab, with The Hummer Club Inc.. we spent a few extra days camping around the Moab/Colorado area after the event..

The event is sponsored by AM General, and they have factory technicians, and a service trailer where they provide on site support, and on trail support,
the Americans do things a lot better than we do, or than Ive seen in Oz anyway.. at the same time, their idea of camping isn't really camping...

I was fortunate enough to ride with the General Manager of AM General, and two of the Hummer Technicians for the first coupla days on the trail, they were all a good bunch of folks and put the H1 in some places I wouldnt of thought possible..the following days I rode with a friend of mine who also owns bluehummer.com, also learnt some more driving tips, and met a lot of good people along the way..

It was a good opportunity to see some H2's and H3's offroad, and see how they compare, and learn that the H2 is quiet a capable truck in the rough stuff, as "Bling Bling" as some of them are, over here they do go very well offroad, regardless of what people think.. it was good to see..

Enjoy the pics

This was good fun, this obstacle is called the double wammy, a lot of trucks break and roll here, because its on an odd angle, and the initial step was over 2ft tall.. standing next to it the ledge was higher than knee height.

Climbing the double wammy, this is a non H3 obstacle

such an awesome place to go 4wding. I went about 10 years ago for the EJS. The terrain is amazing and the slickrock offers so much traction it can be quite off putting at times as the vehicle just climbs and climbs and climbs.

Were there many other clubs and 4wds out or mountain bikers?
Did you manage to head over to Arches NP?
What trails did you run? Looks like you did Golden Spike, Hells Revenge, Pritchett Canyon. Don't imagine you would have done Helldorado?

that obstacle tends to kick the front up so you need to weigh it down, generally not by sitting on the bonnet. When I was there I had to counter balance a Sierra in the same spot. Not fun or recommended that's for sure

Grimbo, Yes .. I remember you talking about it some time ago, this trip is something I wont forget for a while, thats for sure..

The terrain is unbelievable, and Australia has nothing like it, however I miss the terrain we do have in Oz.. the traction is deceiving, and the vehicles do just keep climbing and climbing..

It was mid week, and the kids had just gone back to school, however it was packed in Moab , heaps of mountain bikers we only saw them doing Hells Revenge, and a few jeeps out there, but it was majority a Hummer thing that week, and apart from the Jeeps, and a few odd ones (ford explora's), etc, we didnt see much else..

The trails we did were, Hells Revenge/Hells gate, The Escalator, Moab Rim Trail, Golden Spike, Steel Bender, they were the only trails I did, but as you know escaltor and hells gate are on Hells Revenge anyway.. but they were good obstacles..

I did go to Arches National park, here's a few pics..

This one was Goblin Valley State Park, a bit of a drive out of Moab, we did this one and Zion NP on the drive back to LA.

Looks brilliant , but Pic 10, Shock Horror !!!!:eek:  but then again it ain't my partner, kids or passenger :D:D - I take it that ballast is a requirement.

The other part that is really interesting is the amount of rubber laid down in Pic 2 - that is one well worn track

Cheers

awesome place Moab...wish there was something similar here....we dont have as many large rocky tracks as they do over there.....

I think on some of those tracks many of us would need spare under wear!
