Dad now drives a toyota 3L TD prado! they upgraded the tent too, they now tow an ultimate, we recently took it down the coast and stayed there for a week, it absolutly pored down with rain! i was fine but our mates ultimate got washed out! as there is no real floor, excepth the enviro matting, their beds and clothes were drenched, i was wondering if we can get a floor attached to it somehow, i dunno, anyone out there know of someone who could do it? i'd appreciate any help

Mate, don't get so hot under the collar.
I don't disagree that they are one of the best around. If your parents are happy to pay that sort of money, all power to em. I know a few people that have em, and yeah they are good. Are they WORTH the money ???? Don't know, don't have one.
As for "it'll kick the shit out of any camper trailer you can ever buy" Have to disagree BIG TIME with that one. LOTS of campertrailers out there. Just because you pay LOTS of money, doesn't necessarily mean its the Best. Look at the Yotas ;)
As I said, if it mets THEIR requirements, and THEY can afford it, good luck to em, BUT to each their own, they aren't for me.

Take a few Valium... The best? cause it cost $30,000???
YOU DONT EVEN GET A FLOOR IN IT FOR $30k!!!!!!! HOW GOOD CAN IT BE
Bbbbbbzzzzzzzzzzz..... Strike 1.
Kick the shit out of any other camper trailer? Do tell me why that is... Im interested
Can I make better? No but wait a few mths, bloke on the patrol list has hired a few campertrailers adn is making his own.. it will kick the shit out of your daddys one, and cost $3000.
Find somethign better? Not really hard to do, I would want to be locked up and shot before paying $15,000 for a box trailer with a tent on it.
Here this is better. and cheaper.
http://www.southerncrosscanvas.com.au/images/images_tn_ul_p3.gif $1200.
and put the other $27,000 towards a new car. LOL $30k for something thats going to get used 20 times a year TOPS.
or here
http://www.obrienstrailers.com.au/imagest3/deluxe4.jpg $7000
You can buy excellent camper trailers for $7,000... Not that I would.. Already have all the camping gear, why would I want an ugly trailer behind the car? ..
Question. What happens when you get stuck 1/2 way up that monster hill in the bush with a trailer on?

I agree Haywood.
Why pay more than 15K for a tent on wheels.
We are looking to get a camper trailer in the next few years & the <10K option works for me.
I am happy to make my own accessories to save even more.
It is amazing how much these people charge for something you can knock up in your own workshop.

And if you don't have the skills to do it yourself . . . then what ?????
Agree, that there are some overpriced trailers, but then again, you could have the same argument over vehicles. Why would you buy a Brand new Vehicle for $60/70 $80 when a $10g vehicle will do the same job. Because you can.
There must be a market for em, because they sell em. Just because you don't want one doesn't mean they aren't any good.

You can still shop around to get what you want, even accessorised for less than 18K. The Ultimate (in my opinion) is quite overpriced in comparison to what you can get in other campers.
Heavysew in West Gosford make some good units for very good prices.
I looked at some of their units a few months ago & I was quite impressed.

Hew Wooders, after seeing the pics of your jeep from the weekend, I wouldn't call it a tent on wheels.

We had a soft top Sierra before the cruiser mate, so I know how you feel.
@ 100km/h on the F3, it was almost deafening.
I still have those nightmares............flap flap flap flap flap flap flap ;)
A hard used 4wd has to have roll up windows, even if they are plastic like my 80 was, and a heater/air con, for defogging, and keeping the cab cool, stop the cans getting warm in the drink holders.......

I sfeel so spoilt with my electric windows, mirrors, A/C, power steer, dual drink holders & plush seats. :P
spoilt... they should be standard.....
once you get shower, hot water, pressure washer, microwave, xbox, dvd's and all other great toys with an invertor......then you know camping... 8)

Also being a previous owner of a soft top zook i'm just stoked now to have cloth seats now in my mav. How many zooks can you buy for 30k. they will go anywhere the big boys do and embarass other people while they are doing it in two wheel drive. hehe. As for camping trailers and what not. no thanks, my $100 dome tent does the job just nicely. ;)

I have Laptop with Invertor & screen in front. I copy most of my movies I want to see on trips to CD & then if the weather turns bad (or someone kids pi55 me off), I start it up & watch the movies.
Hot shower is on my list for this year, but as for Xbox or DVD, play games on laptop & copy DVD to VCD & go from there.

Very good question!! Dont mind scratching the GQ so much, but would hang myself to scratch a $64,000 GU TD IC....
If you were earning 100k+ and living in middle class suburbia, with 2 incomes Bruce, you wouldnt treat a GU any different....

Buy what you want drive it how you like.
If you can justify it or afford then then by all means buy what ver you like.
Someones new, Toy/Niss/Rove may well be there vehicle of choice to drive hard.
There are people who buy cheaper and still do not want to scratch it, each to his own.

I know someone in that boat who does all that to a 3 month old 100 series.
Its all relative, you cant knock someone who does, or bag someone who doesnt, as long as they are all having fun.

That is what it is all about.
Using it for what it was designed. ;)
