G'day travellers. A mate & I have just returned from a great trip from Adelaide to The Tip (via Alice, the Plenty Hwy & Mt Isa) and back via Cairns, Winton, Innamincka & Broken Hill.

We travelled in a trusty 1992 80 Series Landcruiser turbo diesel and camped in tents along the way.

We had a fantastic trip; but the roads up top and through SW Qld sure take their toll on a vehicle and your state of mind!!

Our three week trip is documented with stacks of photos. We had a GPS with us and you can view our track in detail in Google Earth and see all our photos located on the map.

We also took a bunch of road pics from the trip which might be useful if you're considering or planning a trip in this area and are curious to get a peek at the road types. These pics too are geo-tagged and appear on the map.

Follow this link to our blog site, from where you can link to our online photo album and Google Earth files.

Maaaannnn, That's a trip and a half. I thought our trip from Brisy to the cape was good!

Cheers Roadwarrior & Scarecrow2 !!

Adelaide to The Tip is a looong drive, but well worth it! Getting to the top was a real high; but coming back down on the relentlessly long & rough Bypass Rds was bloody hard work.

The roads from Windorah to Broken Hill were almost as bad (long/rough).

We'd recommend anyone who has the urge, should give The Tip trip a go. Just make sure your rig is up to it and prepare yourself for some long hours bumping over corrugations!

The trip whet my appetite to revisit The Red Centre one day and check out all it has to offer.

Thanks for reading!! :)
