47 Series Troopy Diesel.
If you can find one in fairly good shape, you can't go wrong for 8K

The vehicle will be pretty much bulletproof & be able to carry heaps of gear.

yea i was thinkin of them but my dads mate steered me away caz they are pretty old these days and have seen some problems, and thats the last thing we want out there, we were thinkin of something a little newer, but that was my first suggestion

My main reason for these is availability of parts.

You could go newer, but will you be getting a better vehicle for your money.

There are quite a few good vehicles out there, but with an 8K limit, you are really going to have to look & wiork hard to find one.

ONO means negotiable.
Give him a bell, he may negotiate & you will probably get a good vehicle.
