Just got the beadlocks and SIMEX 35X10.5X16 fitted. WaaahhhooooOO ;D ;D ;D :D :D
The wankers at the tyre place have put 14 psi in the tyre and 36 psi in the bead...
From what I understand you are meant to have 2psi more in the bead then in the tyre(and the instructions say that too....
he begged to differ but hey he has been fitting tyres for 12 years.... and can't f#cking count or read for that matter!!!
I going leave the beads at around 35psi and not sure what to run the peds on the road... i figure about 35 to 40 psi?!?!
Anybody else got any ideas??
Mick
always check the secondair pressure after adjusting the tyre pressure,a s it changes.
I run 40psi in the secondair and 38 psi in the tyres on the road, had 10 psi in the tyres in the snow last week, and the secondairs went down to 35 psi, but back up to 40 psi when the tyre went back up to 38 psi.
I just bought a set too, getting them fitted on friday at mansfield before heading thru to woods point for the weekend :D
bought them online at www.offroadshop.com.au ;D
So what do they do, drill a hole in the rim for the extra valve or what ?
These things are sounding good as i don't let my tyres down much because of my 10" rims. ::)
They are an inner tube, with a kevlar bag around them to hold them in shape only around the bead area.
like a 25 series tyre inside a 75 series tyre.
They are kept at 40 psi, to hold the bead on, but you can run the actual tyre space air at what ever you want, and wont turn the tyre on the rim, or knock the bead off.
And yes, one extra valve hole in the rim, so it has 2 valves, one for secondair, one for tyre space.

Excuse my naievity, but how does the air get from the normal valve to the main part of the tyre past the beadlock?
Does it slow down the airing down process?
If you look at the pics you will see the black "packers" which allow air transfer to the "normal" tyre space valve.
They do air down a smidge slower, but the new ones will be improved on this I believe.

So what was the answer to the original Question?? run the beadlocks at 2psi above the tyre?
or
Just deflate the tyre to the desired psi and inflate the beadlocks to 40 psi??
The latter makes sense to me, however you'd want to let the beads down prior to inflating the tyr ???e back up to road pressures and again adjust the beadlocks so they are back to 40psi.

Mick rangie. Simex what ET 2's or JT's. I've just had a set of ET's fitted 32" and am running them at 22psi on the road as they are far to stiff at 30 or more. 20 is fine on the bitumen for them. but i'm not running beadlocks. i know blokes who have run them at 12 or less offroad without bead locks without problems they seem to hold onto the rim well. but when $ permit i will be getting some air bead locks. BTW how much you pay for your tyres and beadlocks.

another thing i also have a cheap set of second tyres and rims to save the tread on the simex's. they will woop out on the bitumen over time and you will get a wavy tread pattern a bit like a motorcross tyre on a motorbike after running it on the road for long periods of time. i would rather spend 20 minutes swapping tyres when going out ot play then grind $1500 worth of tyres into the bitumen in about 30000km's.

i run 35x10.5 centipedes i bought the second air beadlocks and have tried fitting them my self and i tell you what without 'workshop' air pressure it is bloody hard to reseat the beads. i need to take the wheels to work to use the air and fit these things soon. i am going to run my locks at 38-40 and then drop tyres to 10ish for off road. untill recently i only had one set of tryes and with most of my bitumen driving around 100km/hr my centipedes are about 60-70% worn after 30000km. tyre rotation and pressures are critical if you wish to use these things on the road.

Paddy,
Why would you use them on the road, really?

I'm only runnig about 18psi in my ET's on the road and they still don't bag those beadlocks look pretty tough when you see a cross section of 1
