Awesome. I can't wait fro next year, i'll be there too. All these trip reports are good for saving motervation and to see how to prep my cruiser. Was thinking A/T's as we'll be doing a lot of hard ground driving but after seeing those pics Gonna go with M/T's which is what my heart wanted anyway, i was just trying to be sensible :):) And defo a snorkle.

Yeah I went with 31 mtz muddies and really glad I did. I was surprised just how well they handled loose dirt out on the main road and also bitumen.

Hi Foo, caught a few fish of the beach at Captain billy's landing and at chilli beach near lockart river. had some big fresh oysters of the rocks at Vrilya point, though be warned there was a croc there that patrolled the waters edge at night just infront of where we were camping. You can see there big red eyes with a bright torch at night. "you have to hold the torch at your eye level to get the reflection of their eyes"

Wow!!! I got back from the Cape 2 days ago and it is SO MUCH dryer now, WOW.

That swampy area past the turn off after nolans brook is pretty much all hard packed dirt. The ducie only just touched our bonnet ('97 NL Pajero). The swampy area just after cypress creek, where you said 'dont think its a creek' is half the size. lol. Amazing difference, when were these photos taken???? We did the tele on the 3rd, 4th, 5th July and it was so much dryer in comparison.

Hi Brett, we started the telegraph track on the 5th of June . thanks for the feed back. I didnt realise just how quick it dries out. thats probably why most people do it in Aug - sept. Cheers phil

there will definitely be water 0n the OTT in August. great camping spots at nearly every creek crossing. can recommend camping at somerset and vrilya point. both free. check hema maps for details. have a great time,

hope your joking. definitely snorkel country. Im not sure if you can do the OTL in Jan feb, think the creeks would be to deep , if anyone out there has done it perhaps you can share your experience with us. .pics would be great. cheers

thats pretty keen mate feb/march we went up late april and it was great nice and wet, some tracks closed but like cape melvile and we were one of the first cars to do some tracks and the muddies paid for them selves. It most likely do able but it would be still wet season up there not the best for camping that my imo anyways.

Was up there in July 08, and your right. Some of those crossings have changed since last year.
Hopefully want to go back up there in a few years time, when my young bloke is older and will appreciate it more.
