Yes im bloodly annoyed at the qld government right now. At least I can say I didnt vote for them. But how many election promises have they broken now! and the election was only a few months ago! You just cant trust any polititon. They will say whatever they need to get elected, then burn everyone that voted for them. Just look at K Rudd.

One of the things im concerned about (among the other) is their plan to sell Qld Forestry. I can see it now, a private corporation buys it then they say, No you cant drive your 4b in there anymore.

Double the unemployment rate of anywhere else in Oz

Yeah it blows big time. I can live with the fuel subsidy (since we are the only state who still had one). But selling off commercial interests does not make a whole lot of sense to me.

Face it mate you're in the same boat as everyone else outside a major metro area. Either put up with the cost and enjoy the lifestyle or live in crap and earn better money in a big city and have no lifestyle.
Either way you pay, but up in cairns your not paying the bigger fools who think they run NSW.

If you guys thinks its tough in QLD...try dealing with living in the NT.
I moved over here from NthQLD for work and cant get over the crazy prices for everything.
Fuel always seems to be 30c more p/lt
- Even tho some fuel is trucked through the NT to southern states.

We also have the highest rent and property market in Aus.
$350 per week gets you a 2 bedroom unit in an 'unfriendly' part of town....thats if your lucky enough to get a place.

Dont even get me started on health. If you can find free health its a joke.
I ended up in hospital last year, 4 days before a doctor came to see me. Spent 2 of those nights sleeping on a trolley, and 1 night sleeping on a chair. Went in for surgery, and they kicked me out the next day! Told me to go see my GP if I had any issues or try back at emergency!

Luckily my work pays me good and the lifestyle is great, otherwise I would be leaving here quick smart.

Mate,
Lived in the centre of Sydney for 4 years and loved it. Could work 4 days a week and still earn double as much as here.
Payed same amount of rent, didn't use any fuel(except for weekends away) and had all the fun I could want right on my doorstep.
To go 4wding there are plenty of great spots less than 2 hours away.
Thats where I got the cash to buy my fourby!
The only reason I don't move back there is I now have a 1 1/2 year old son.
Have lived in every major city in Oz, except for Hobart(to damn cold), and quite a few regional areas and have found Cairns the most beautiful but also most expensive and one with least opportunities.
Might have to give Darwin a go again. Great fishing, heaps to explore and better pay because it's not run by state government.:thumb:

Yep i am Working in Alice atm and luckily my work pays for my rent. Easy to find work here, problem is no one can afford to live here

We classify Ali-brings as Central Australia or Outback Hollywood haha!

But your right, like anywhere in the NT, work is easily found for somone wanting to put in the hard yards. I had a mate move up here on a Saturday, had fulltime work on Sunday and worked 6 months, 5 days a week 9-4 and has now gone to 4x4 round Aus on a 6 month holiday cuz he had earnt his whole years wage!
