View Full Version : will HZJ 75 diff fit in HJ 75 ute

i am chasing any informtion on if a HZJ 75 rear diff will fit into a HJ 75
ie, are they the same ratio's and same tail shaft
i have scored two 75 series utes that were unfinished projects for a vvvveeerrrryyyyyy good price. i all ready own a good hj 75 and want the LSD / disk break ass end in my ute

Pretty sure it will bolt straight in chief. Probably easy just to swap the whole housing as well.

might want to check the diff ratios, earlier cruisers had 4.11 diffs then at some point they had 4.1 diffs I think

My HZJ75 has the high pinion diff and is a 4.11 ratio (37x9). My new HDJ80 has the same diffs at 4.10 (41x10). Go figure Toyota logic.....

yeah cheers fellas i am thinking i might swap the complete front and back diffs if they will go in easy, i want to shim the LSD up so its as tight as S%^t

Not really much point with a toyota LSD, will wear out pretty quick. Your better with with a cheap autolocker if your strapped for cash and dont push it to hard

i heard a while back when i was contemplating doing this to my hj75 that you have to change something to do with the brakes going from drums to disc.

hzj 75 rear diff are the same up to hzj 79. they changed the front diff in 1990.

yeah cheers i have a whole spare hzj 75 and from what i have been told you have to swap over the brake master out of the hzj if you take the hzj diff as well
