News just in from Tuff Truck HQ informs us that the 2003 Tuff Truck Challenge has been postponed. Due to ongoing insurance underwriting issues for events, it was deemed impossible to adequately satisfy insurers demands and be fair to potential competitors whose vehicle’s modifications would be governed by the requirements of this insurance. The proposed September date was considered unviable, so the event will now take place on 15-17 May 2004. This will be the new scheduling for subsequent events in line with the first Tuff truck in 2001. This decision has been regretfully taken and the organisers apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. :'(

Why not move it to QLD as there are no real probs getting the insurance up there if its held in a 4wd park??

www.manar.com.au has some excellent rock and is in QLD.
unregistered rigs were allowed in the recent Q ROCK 2003 event held at the park.

So TRC [top rock challenge] you reckon wooders, as opposed to TTC....

I dare say a Qld event would not get the spectators through the gate [paying spectators ;)] that the current location does.

Looks tube was to much tube for the insurance companies then...

It's not just sport tho' is it? it's everything, people seem to look to insurance payouts second to winning the lottery. obviously some cases are genuine but it seems that people sue over nothing these days. ::)

Is this where we start bitching about insurance companies, lawyers - or simply Joe Idiot ???
I can't believe even now after such prolonged and obvious probelms that nothing REALLY has been done to fix this problem....loks like it's the bloody pollies at fault :-X

Well some of the people you can thank at the moment are all the 4wd competitors who have taken the family wagon into events and then got the insurance to fix them when it all went pear shaped. If you cant afford to fix the car, dont compete in it, simple really, some companies have stopped covering 4wd's on club outings even now.

I spent some time early days setting up CAMS for the 4wd sport, which see's good regs, legal, insurance, and cover for officials etc. Unfortunately, as long as the 4wd hobby of competitions continues to operate outside of any governing body insurance will be the small issue, when something goes wrong and a court case forces a desicion one way or the other...

Im hoping my payout is a Lotto win, not just lottery.

Having lived thru 3.5yrs of shiat, and over 28 operations, being in a coma for a month, several mths in hospital, losin use of my right foot, and part use of left arm, having had 2 fingers ripped off but sewn back on at an angle, compound fractures, dislocated shattered bones, dizzy spells, the list goes on... some of us deserve a lotto win.

You cant blame people for operating inside the system, you blame the system for allowing it....... ::)

And no... I havent sued anyone for anything outragous ;)

Without wanting to open a can of worms here Bruce, what were the circumstances?, who was responsible? and who is the payer going to be, knowing your the payee.

BTW, you carry them all well, as the average punter would have trouble picking it ;)

Wow all that from a knitting accident ;)

Not peeing on what you've been through...But I believe the question that SHOULD be asked more often is:
IS someone other than yourself actually at fault, or is it self-inflicted and looking for someone to "pay".....
Eg the famous clown diving into the sand bar...I have not doubt that it bloody hurt - but why should effectively the communicty pay for what was ultimately HIS actions....

Its all kinda green.

Its Workers Comp, and Third Party. I was on way home from work, Princes Hwy... But all the workers Comp gets paid back when My case goes through the courts. The payback from Medical, compo, re-training, Dr's and everythign will be over $500k I would guess... Then theres my pittance on the end.

When you see these cases on the news saying XYZ got $6,000,000 payout, thats the total, less Lawyers, Less paying back everything, the person usually gets around $1,000.000... May sound like a lot, but that has to do with Remodelling your house to accept your disabilities, and wages for the rest of yoru life if you cant work.. The pension isnt going to do it for you..

But thats before they capped the payouts.. That happened 2 Weeks before my accident. Arent I lucky.

I Was riding home fromwork, piece of shit pulled out on me, and bang, they charged him, his insurance Co, admitted their client was at fault within few mths(fast for an INsurance Co).

Carryin it well, well that would be the 30kgs Ive put on since, due to not being able to do much exercise, as I get tired really easy, and stuff. Some days are better than others with the injuries.

Cant use right foot, thus the need for the Auto.. Curse Nissan for not making a GU 4.2 Auto in ST, only the Violet Crumble 3.0 compressor dunger.

If ya bored, look at [urlhttp://truckster.offroad.au.com/injuries.htm[/url]... Thats just a few of the photos from Hospital.. I had to learn to walk again, using a frame for 3 weeks... Crutches for a yr...

Its still up to me if I want to get Toes Amputated or not since they arent connected to bones on the foot.

The leg injuries were caused from flattening a Traffic Light Pole with my legs.. SO the cops told me.. the bike continued into oncoming traffic on its own.. RIP the VFR.. :(

The best was the witness in court, saying:
"... You look better than last time I saw you, Your leg was up your back, your arm was facing opposite directions, and there were bones hanging out of you.." I stopped him there... Didnt need to think about it.

Thanks to St George Hospital staff, wife was 8 mths pregnant at the time.

Wooders..

Couldnt agree more. I see Death Penalty for pricks that scam the system, and deportation of the corpses... Those that need the system get screwed.. I mean Insurance Companies are doing it Tough these days, like banks.

You should hear some of the stories the Cops and Lawyers have been telling me.

The scam stories, like one bloke thats had more than 20 claims against him.. they call him the T-Boner. The last tiem he was caught, was on Video by accident! He was involved in a Tbone crash, and then all these people came out from behind a fence, and jumped in the car, and started screaming pain and agony! The cops loved taking that one to court, they are now ALL doing time for their actions (No not many spoke English..)...

One way to fix something is to stop Law firms from being able to advertise. (as it used to be).

Far enough, they are plenty of folks who deserve to be compensated for their accidents, but there are plenty out there, that only think about it, when they here an add all the time.

"Have you been in an accident . . . have you fallen over on the footpath . . . then call . . . . . "

Doesn't matter they may have off their face at the time.

Without wanting to make a political staement, I did think Mr Kennet made the responsible for your action cause a little stronger in Vic in his term......

I do see some outlandish claims from companies about products though... how much further would they go if they didnt have to worry about consumers using the rights as a citizen if required?
