View Full Version : POSSUM RIP
A very sad day in Aus/NZ world actually rally news with the death of Possum Bourne today.
At least he crammed as much as he could into his 47 years, a true go getter and perfectionist.

That's a damn shame, and a surprise for me at the same time. RIP mate, you were truly at the top of your game.

He hasn't died yet - but to quote form a news service 1hour ago "Bourne's friends and family are keeping a 24-hour vigil around his bedside after it was decided last night to gradually decrease his life support, leaving his chances of survival "virtually nil". "
Extremely sad and a huge loss to Rallying, and motorsport in general.....

It certainly is a sad day. If we keep losing our motor sport people like Possum and Barry, what will we do on Sunday afternoons. :'(

Possum was a great man for Australian (& international) Motorsport.
He will be sorely missed.
For the record, he won 7 consecutive Australian Rally Titles.
2 asia pacific titles too i think....

I wonder how the Kiwi's are coping with his passing - probably still in national morning......
He certainly did 'em proud....
All the V8 supercars had a tribute to Possum on the car at Eastern Creek over the weekend, too, winner Marcus Ambrose had a pic of a possum on the side of the car.

He also dedicated his win to Possum & his family.
Yep, stone Bos racing is a NZ team, as the Stone Bro's are from there.

Did you see the short special in RPM about Possum where he stuck with Subaru even before they were anything to write home about.

It was a good special.
My thoughts on it were that if Possum (Peter) had not put in that level of dedication in those early years, Subaru would still be struggling to have a competetive car.
Im still awaiting Subaru to enter the SUV 4wd market, they cant hold off for ever.... but seems they are for now.

The Boxer engine would be quite interesting in a "Real" off roader.......http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modules/phpBB2/images/smiles/new_asthanos.gif
twin turbo version of the 6 from the outback would be the go, 6 sp,

Ohhhhhh YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!
I will have to get my teeth fixed for that ride.
subaru has sort of entered the market..... the outback is alot of $$$ for the road going nature though, I did pass one coming up Herne spur from the gatta last time I was going down though....

I have heard of some modified Subarus getting around (Spurry from one of the other forums comes to mind) & I have seen footage of one going down the Spanish Steps near Lithgow.
It can't be long before Subaru decide to make a "real" 4wd.
