Anyone got a ball park for what it should cost to machine a 4 cyl head? No valve work required.
We've got fairly limited competition in these parts for this sort of work :(.
Greetings
I just had the head on my SD33 diesel motor pressure tested and machined for $450. Other than a clean that was it, my valves were good too. That's from a local mechanic in Sydney

hell my trade price for a 6cyl face, pressure test & crack test is $90....;) so i guess retail should be under $200 on a bad day!!
Note.....whilst its fine to get a face crack&pressure test...DONT get it cleaned in the bath..all the valve stem seals will be shagged!

Jeez.
I wish I had gone onto the forum to seek the best advice and price when I had my Landcruiser Petrol head done. the head gasket went some time ago, My mechanic sent the head away to be machined, cost me $1400. and when the head was returned , with a gasket set the tolerances were checked on the block , and that was found to be slightly warped,
It was cheaper to ship a whole motor from a wrecker in QLD.
Than to have a rebuild,
Anyone need a fully reco head??

Cheers all,
Obviously prices are all over the shop. I've got the head now from the wreckers, so will see what I can get it done for. Nice to know some other prices.
