Could be lots of things.
What model is it?
Keep in mind the ole 4.0L doesn't do much up over 3 grand anyway.Does it actually cut power at 3 or does the power flaten out? I don't know if it is a problem with the car or your expectation of the performance.
Why did the owner fit a 6 sp?

IF TJ is lifted either need a transfer case drop or an SYE - either will do
if going 3in or bigger will need a SYE for sure as transfer case drop will only last a short time - rear uni will break for sure

Body Lift doesn't effect the driveline. So adding one won't mean you need a SYE - but it's a good modification anyway ;)

Dude you're on the wrong forum, try AUSJEEPOFFROAD.COM (http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com) ;)

2" BL is considered too tall on a TJ, better off looking at the 1 1/4" kits available from Wooders (Wooders Garage, Online Store (http://www.wooders.com.au))

..and 33's can fit on a 2" Suspension lift, no body lift, BUT you have to put in bumpstop spacers and fit wider 15x8" -3.75"BS rims.

I know people that have removed 2" BL kits (myself included).
I know pople that have ripped off body mounts (I have only "tweaked" one).
Personally I'd suggest a maximum of 1.25" for a number of reasons.
Then with the 2" lift if the 33"s don't quite fit then extend the bump stops a little more ;)
