Hi All!

Has anyone run a K&N air filter in their LN166 (or equivalent) HiLux?

If so, how does it perform?

I'm thinking of getting one of these things to take the place of the factory filter to save on cash.

The only reservation I have on them is that they are not a good thing to use with turbo diesels for some reason. And since I plan to add a turbo soon, this may be a deal breaker unless someone can give me working experience and feedback.

Thanks.

Hope to hear from y'all again soon.

Best regards! :thumb:

Pretty sure the only downside to the K&N filters is their lower level of filtration compared to foam and paper filters. For general driving around town you won't have any dramas but in any dusty situations you could pretty well stuff your engine. Of course this lower filtration also means less restriction which is why you get an increase in performance/fuel economy when using one.

Cheers,
Mark

Forget the K&N and go for a foam UniFilter. They're the go. The one I bought for my Lux has improved the fuel economy by at least 40 odd k's per tank and also the responsiveness of the engine. Just don't over kill the foam oil when you put it on as so many do and then complain it can't breath properly.

Had A K&N in my 4 Runner. Found it great. No probs with a turbo as long as you have a snorkle. Found my mates "Finer filter" used to clog up too much.
