Hi all,

First of all, I'm very much a beginner, so please bare with me, and apologies in advance for any stupid questions!

I am looking to buy a 2003 3.0L Diesel dual cab hilux (its done 80,000km).

My main concern, is that during my test drive of the vehcile, I felt the clutch was rather stiff.

Now this may just be me not being used to driving such a vehicle, or could it be something else?

I have hired 4wd's before, and had never noticed the clutch feeling really stiff, but on this hilux I test drove it just seemed rather stiff to me.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

A bit hard to tell if there's anything wrong just from the stiffness and what you have said, as people have different opinions on what is stiff and what isn't.

Where does the clutch engage in the pedal travel? High up or close to the floor? Are there any noises when the clutch is depressed and can the gears be changed smoothly? Any shuddering on take-off?

The clutch and gear boxes in this model can certainly fail like anything else but are generally long lasting if they are treated nicely.

May be worth getting a pre-inspection done to see if anything comes up.
