Has anyone out there put in your own (home made) drawer system and then had to figure out how to get a baby seat in with the drawers covering up the floor anchor points?
I tried to put the bolt into the roof points (at the back) but it's a different size bolt and I can't find where to buy that size. Had a couple of great phone calls with Toyota who didn't have a clue. They also said that before using the roof point I'd have to get it certified as they aren't certified standard (even though the owners manual says to use them!).
I'm thoroughly stuffed at the moment as I have to drive the wife's car everywhere as I can't get the baby seat into mine, any advice would be really appreciated. I really want to get the young fella introduced to the good life asap.
cheers

Yeah, I'd love to hear and see pics of what people have come up with, once they have installed drawers and needed to put baby seats in???
Cheers.

G,day Benny,
I had the same problem. I ended up getting 3 anchor points into the vehicle
which is all passed by the relevant authorities. The anchor points are located
at the top inside rear just above the rear top door..
I hope this helps. Cost me about $60 an archor point.

Hi Don,
When you say you had them put in?? There's already 3 points above the rear door in mine, they are the ones that have the different size bolt, were your's already there and you had them certified or did you get them put in special?
cheers

Any decent bolt shop should ba able to give you a few to try.
I had mine fitted in the roof. I had to buy an extension strap to reach to the seat, and I fitted a second anchor. You can buy a little kit with bolts and spacers from Kmart etc.
I recently made a fridge slide for our 105 and it has them in the floor. I had to make a spacer and get a longer bolt. I think it was a 5/16" BSW (Whitworth)
I think the floor is a dumb spot. It cuts into the cargo space.

My Oldies 91 80Series has both styles above rear door with the bolts that come with them. First Ive ever heard about getting factory anchorages certified, sounds like a money spinner to me.

I'm sure that I can find a bolt to fit the points, what I'm worried about is that I've been told that for insurance and more important I guess the safety of the seat, it has to be specific length etc. The general fittings (safe & sound etc) are 5/16, the trouble is that the points in the roof are smaller than 5/16 so I was hoping that someone out there had used these points and knew about the rated bolts etc. Or maybe I'm going nuts and the points are 5/16 and the bolt's just not starting for some reason (but I've tried a couple of different ones)

I'm sure they are 5/16, will have the cruiser on wednesday night if you want me to check.

I think that I have worked it out now, what Don said about getting fitted makes sense, I had a better look at the actual hole in the steel today (rather than just trying different bolts in it) and realised that it's just a hole, not a threaded point, I'm guessing that it's a prepped point to put a real anchor point into. Does that make sense?
Assuming that it's right does anyone know anywhere in southern sydney or wollongong that fits rated anchor points?

My GLX 80 (Diesel 1990) has three both the rear door. I use the centre one, the bolt that came with the baby seat went straight in.

The plugs in the roof went no where so they had to fit some. And it came complete with modification certificate to keep the insurance companies happy.
Good Luck

Hey,thanks Justin. I've spoken to a couple of installers who didn't want to do it and said the engineering would cost hundreds. I don't want to do it without engineering (insurance etc). I've got a quote of $260 to put a crab bar in the back high near the door which wouldn't impact my packing space. We are planning on a trip to Bendethera next weekend so I think I'm going to go with the bar as I need to get it done next week and with stuff going on the only way that can happen is while I'm at work. If we decide not to go next week I might just give you a call.
cheers
