I have a 95 ln106 lux and a mate that is getting rid of his surf (from memory was a 91 model), and i was going to change my car to have the rear wheel disc brakes from it.
But then i realised that i could change the entire diff but just not sure of the ratio's and if they will be the same, i have done a bit of searching on the net and found heaps of other technical stuff but not that much on diff ratio's.
They are both stock cars with no mods regarding the drive train.
Any help would be great.:thumb:

Pop the bonnets on both, on the firewalls above the brake boosters will be the compliance build plates.
Look for the "axle/trans code" and the 3 numbered code starting with a letter next to it. Mine says G285 which means 8" 4.3:1 ratio, 4 pinion LSD. Your hilux will be similar (but may not be LSD).
The surf could be 4.3:1 as well or 4.1:1, but anyway get these codes, post them up and we'll tell you.
