Looking into doing a V8 (Most likely 1UZ) in my lux and wondering what people are using Standard, Standard with piggyback setup or straight aftermarket what brands and most importanlty the cost of it.

I am running an Autronic SM4 straight aftermarket, I think from memory the unit was around 2k then the harness etc to be wired. That was a couple of years ago now though so they are probably cheaper.

With the 1UZ I ran the stock computer with one of Venoms looms.

Before the V8 I ran Wolf 3d on the V6, wired it all up myself and was very user friendly to install and play with settings. I did have some tune dramas (guy pretty much stuffed my V6 on the first road test), so ditched it in favour of a reliable factory ecu for the V8.

Value for money you can't go past a microtech. Some people don't like them, I've now run two (mtx-8 and lt10-s) in a performance application and have had no quams. $1050 will get you a lt10-s shipped to your door with loom and diagram, depending on who you know. You can also have them remapped, 4 bar map sensors added easily. My new lt10s runs a 14,000 rpm map for example. Hand controllers and dongle cables are readily available second hand and new, Also, tuning software (for laptop tuning) is available as a free download.
They're also easy as to wire up yourself and tune yourself

There may be a computer with more options out there to suit what you're using it for, autronic, haltech, motec etc, but for what you're doing would be overkill when a reliable unit is available at a lower cost.

yeah liking that price was going to allow around 2G but i'm not tryin to save 1/1000 of a second of my 1/4 times. So what places around brissy are the best places to look at or on the net.

it was a quiet day at work, so i took the liberty of getting you a quote.
Apparently they're doing a fair few LT10S' for the 1uzfe at present.
For ECU and loom, delivered to your door, $1095 inc GST

if you want the guy's name and contact details, shoot me a pm.

I have a standard holden ECU in my shorty at the moment but have a haltech sitting here to go in when I change a few things in the engine, just have to get my finger out though.

X2 Microtech,
I will be running the Microtech MT8 ECU in my GQ with the LT1 350 chev, it also has the LT handset hooked up to the ECU
Had this setup in the 62s before and it was great! only drawback was the lack of backlit keys on the handset, made pushing the wrong button at the wrong time at night real easy!:D
But other than me being a drip and not leaving things alone it has been wicked and i cant wait to get it all fired in the GQ....good to know it is re-programable too, will come in handy when the items from PWR lob on the door step!

Steve.
