I was looking at putting a VL turbo (Skyline) motor into my MQ but it is so hard to get onto a turbo motor at the right price.
I also replied to your post in general section but i'm not sure about the RB20 heads

nen! if ya want an rb30 get a nissan job - the holden versions are basically cheaper, crappier versions of the nission ones :)

What makes you say that? Holden used the RB30E, imported from Nissan Japan. Most people swear by those engines, although some have had head troubles. These were brought about by the radiator in the VL body being lower than the head, and any air pockets remained in the head if they weren't bled properly.
Nen, why worry about finding a RB20 head, just fit all the gear from a stuffed RB30E Commodore? You probably only need the intake manifold, injection hardware, sensors, mass air sensor, loom, ECU and pump.

Because the RB20/25 had twin cam heads (...and two cam's...as it happens). I imagine you'd be better off fitting a turbo. Shouldn't be any harder to find the gear than it'd be to find an RB20 top end...
Anyhow, for some decent info try looking around skyline or VL-turbo forums. ( http://calaisturbo.com.au/ might get you started). It seems this conversion (rb 20.30 hybrid) is a fairly common one.

EDIT: ahh, idiot. i forgot the patrols were carby fed. None the less, the RB20 head's would go better...as would the turbo setup, than RB30E heads alone.
