I am in the process of converting a air con compressor to a air pump just after some ideas on how other ppl lube the pump??

Prefer it to be auto...

Thanks guys

You could run an oiler which comes with a rattle gun in your inlet line if you want auto lube you lazy sod.me,i used to just fill the compressor with oil every now and then, but recently i put a grease nipple in the filler plug, like the endless air setups, and just pumped a shitload of grease into it.seems to work well.i run a water /oil seperator in my setup so i am not filling my tyres with anything but air.

Your aircon pump should have a filler plug on the alloy case, where the refrigerant oil is put in when used as an air con unit.

I just squirt about 10ml of compressor oil down the intake before I use it.

I run an in line tool oiler in mine and hardly uses any oil, it works on a vaccum system, I haven't yet run a seperator and there is basically no oil coming thru the line,
I had a flat the other day and it pumped a dead flat 33x11.5x15 Simex up to 25psi in about 25 secs, and that was just above idle speed so at revs it would be even quicker, they are great :o

Could you run a oil/water seperator filled with oil, with a feed tube from the bleed valve to the inlet on the comp? This would be automatic.
Also, how do you convert the pressure switch on the comp to an electric one ???
Or do I just have NFI

you can call somebody like Festo for oilers.... you will need one that runs on vacuum and set it to use a drop of oil every 30 seconds (so i'm told) and a small water/oil seperator won't cost much either. The Festo guy can put you onto the pressure cut-out as well. Or you can buy an ARB one that they use for air lockers. It's not having NFI mate..... it's called learning ;) Ya don't learn if you don't ask.

I haven't run mine thru a pressure switch yet as I haven't got around to plumbing it into the roll cage, at the moment inflating tyres is a 2 person job so someone can be in the cab to flick the switch on and off as required,
Roe is right in getting a cutout switch fitted. very simple and very good, :D

I use an inline tool oiler which works just fine. It doesn't need to work on vacuum, it seems to be a simple venturi.
I run a cheap oil/water seperator and my unit pumps a flat tyre up in 28 seconds. I have no tank and therefore no cutout switch. The cheap regulator vents to atmosphere when the pressure reaches 100psi.
