Gday fellas
I have searched for info about putting a Boost controller on my 01 2.5L TD courier with not much luck. Has anyone had experience with these on a turbo diesel and how do you think it will go on my courier? Will it shorten or stress the life of my turbo and will fuel economy change? Finally where, what and how much is a good one
Any info eg prices, brand names would be great
Thanks

ur pretty much talking about a blow off valve from what i understand of a boost controller which would be a complete waste of time as your turbo already has a wastegate which controls the amount of boost

Gday mate,

A boost controller is exactly that, not a wastegate or b.o.v, I have a 1HZ cruiser with turbo, I used a Go Fast Bits (GFB) Boost Controller, single stage, this allows only one boost setting and are very easily fitted inline between turbo and wastegate, came with all fittings and instrtuctions fot $80 from Repco, (can get cheaper off ebay etc), easily allows to adjust boost levels, as do most of them, great investment for better fuel economy for me after fiddling...HOWEVER, you really need a boost guage and a EGT or temp guage for Exhaust temps to make sure you dont overdo it with the boost levels, best prctice to check what pre controller boost levels are at and go from there.

i then retract the above as i must have read the wrong information or miss understood it
the cheapest pyrometer i found was here and is accurate to 1 degree unlike gauges

I got one off ebay from a bloke that calls himself simark87.
It was about $35 posted.
Easy to fit and does the job.

Thanks for the replies
How do i find out what boost ive got now and how do i know whats to much?
And also the Thermogaurd EGT guage is to expensive is there any cheaper quality gauges i realise they wont be as accurate but will give an approximate temp reading?
Could any one post some pics of the installed boost controller as im unsure where and how to install it?
Thanks very much again

I've got a turbotech boost controller on our 1HZ. Cost about $35 off evilbay.
There should be a hose that runs from the boost side of the turbo to the wastegate actuator. It provides the signal pressure that opens the wastegate, thereby limiting the boost.
The controller is basically a restriction that delays the signal, upping the boost.

Some Digital Multi Meters will take a temperature probe input. I picked up a -40 to 1200 Deg probe from Jaycar for about $13. Just got to make sure they are the right type... ususally K type thermocouples.

Get a boost guage and the EGT fitted before you change anything. More boost needs more fuel so you need to know how to adjust it. Is it a simple screw or is it electronis injection?
