This is what my dad brought home from singapore back in 83 i think, this for me and a 81 hilux ute for my lil bro. It has high and low range and a winch option selected on the front bull bar, it slide a gear along a shaft wich selected the diffrent ratios and the winch was controllable from the radio gear just the same as forward and reverse was so it was basically a pto winch. It has a locked rear diff and lockable swing articulation for the rear diff as well. It hasnt worked for some years now as i stripped the low range gearing wich really rendered it useless as 4b. high range worked still but that wasnt the fun part about this car.
My lil bro totally stuffed his hilux and if i had some foresight back then when i was 8, i woulda made sure i kept his thing for parts for this. I have been searching the internet high and low for another one but havnt seen anything. The closest i have come is other rc cars made by the same company k.k.matsushiro. The search will continue though . I have a Tamiya f350 though wich comes close to the fun and when they bring a winch out for it I might then be content.

I don't know if that is the original hilux with a F250 body on it or not, but the original Hilux 4WD was made by Tamiya and had a 3 speed selectable gearbox and front had lockable wheel hubs. The ladder was a true ladder chassie along with leaf springs. Thos models are now highly sought after and ones in mint condition are selling for over a thousand dollars. Even one in rough condition will sell for over 500 bucks. I would be looking at fixing the hilux and using it and if a winch is what you really want, it would be simple to make one up and use like a real winch, but you would need a 4 channel radio for it as the hilux uses a 3 channel, 1 channel for steering, 1 channel for power and the 3rd for selecting hi or low range, so the 4th would be needed for a winch or the number of channels and what they do are really up to you and how you can make it all happen.

No the f350 is a whole new kit that is similair to the old hilux kit with the 3 speed gear box, and full ladder chassis with leaf springs and lockable diffs. I have a 4 channel radio set to run it so i do have the 4th ch free to operate a winch no worries, its just going about making something that wold work and be strong enoupgh to recover the car when stuck etc.

they look similar but mine wasnt a build yourself kit. But looks cool doesnt it. If only it came with a working winch.

Muckin, you could fit a servo with a pully/spindle att, wind some rope/cord around it, custom fairlead and recovery hook, and wire it into the spare channel..... or maybe I have had too many :drink:'s

Yeah im not sure there would be enoupgh room for that with out some sort of 90 degree offset gearing device to fit it under the hood in me f350.
i do spend sleepless hours thinking about this far to often though.
