ok today has been a real eye opener with the amount of searching i have done.
i am looking at getting a banks turbo kit for a 6.2 chev to install in my patrol i was wondering if any one has had anything to do with this company or if any one knows of any other companys that do a turbo kit for the 6.2.
if any one has any advice please do not hesitate to point me in the right direction

I would maybe consider gas instead of turboing it. These things aren't really that suited to turbos. To turbo one of these is not a cheap project and you can only really gived them about 8 to 10 psi tops before you will start running into major heating issues. At that kind of boost you may get 30 to 40 % better power. Most people I have talked to are saying they are getting up to 30% better power and approx 100km extra out of a tank of fuel. You also get a government rebate of about $2000 for installing gas to vehicles now. I am just about to install it to my 6.5 in my HJ75 and can't wait to see how much better it is.

the only issue with gas that i can see is the availibility of it in the out back i am planning on making a tourer so thats why i was thinking a couple of small turbos running about 7psi but i will look in to gas
how long dose a 110l tank of gas last generally

You would go for a long time on that as they only run the gas at about 10 to 15% mixture with diesel. On average you will use 15 lts of gas to about 75lts of diesel. If you turbo it, you will have over heating issues. I have spent the last 12mths sorting out a 6.5 in my HJ75 and after having the engine apart these things have a very poorly designed cooling system and are not well suited to turboing.

If you log into G503.com is Military Vehicles, The WWII Military Jeep, Parts, Olive Drab and All Related Things. (http://www.g503.com), its a military forum, and scroll down to the Humvee section, and discuss some of the options with the 6.2 owners
Ive had 6.2 in a Military humvee, with the 3 speed, it was an ok motor, but if you go turbo use a mecanical pump, i dont reccomend using the electronically controlled pump, its a real pain in the ass if something messes up, I have this set up now a 6.5 turbo V8 mecanical pump electronically controlled..
Brunswick diesel are the people to talk to in Oz, theyre doing all the conversions, but turbo = more power = more heat, so id look at some places like kennedydiesel.com or ssdiesel.com and have a look at some of their cooling system upgrades..
They are MUCH cheaper than Australia, even consider bringing one into the country, ( i can help with this ), for instance you can buy a reconditioned 6.2 or 6.5 V8 from the US for around $3000.
Im in the process of changing my injection pump, and brought one today from the US brand new DS4 electric pump with new upgraded PMD for $950, No core charge. A place in Oz quoted me $3259
So shop around, and check out the American turbo options before you go spending big bucks on something here, if you can wait a month or so for it to arrive...
