suspension 4 a 40

To all fellow enthuseists,
I've got an fj 40 and I need to replace the suspension but I cant get an off-the-shelf product because it has fibreglass everything and a 351.
I'm looking for max. performance/wheel travel off-road
without going to coils.
I've been told parabolics but i'de like to ask the experts.
any thoughts?

Parabolics take a while to bed in, you might have to go get a spring place to make up some custom leaves for you.
Could always go for longer than standard srings too, like leaves from a 60 series, it's been done, but I don't know how much work is needed to make em fit.
