i was after a rock crawler, but there not that populor here, which means parts are hard to find.
But this one looks more fun, they get up to 120kph,with a few cheap mods its easily get 140kph.
the car alone is $850,
i got a package inc batturys, chargers, wheelie bar(so it dosnt flip backwards), 5lts fuel, glow plugs, etc etc for $1000, which is a real good price the full price was $1350.
Now 1 of my mates wants 1 also so gonna try a better price for 2!!
They got a whole wall full of moded parts, e.g bigger rims n tyres, exhursts, air filliters, control arms etc.
bigger tyres are like $10 each lol big differance to our simexs lol.
well its one of these or a drift car. YouTube - Team D10 RC Drift Video 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PGNFEvmvGw)
which 1 would u choose?
im leaning more towards the 4x4 for the fact it would be good when camping, lunchtime on our 4x4 trips hehe..
ether way they both look heaps of fun.

Rock Crawlers are gaining in popularity down under, The Axial AX10 Scorpion is a great starter kit if your going to get into Crawling..
As for the Savage, I Do hope you enjoy tinkering and tuning.. A Nitro can be a whole world of fun, if treated properly, other wise your in for a world of dissapointment and heart ache..
Its not as simple as add fuel and run.. Your going to need to Idle through 4 Tanks of Fuel before you even get to set it loose...
Nitro's need to be run in, Tuned and re-tuned to ensure maximum engine life and durability..
I used to drift a HPI Sprint 2 , all I can say is RC Drifting is fun but you really need to have mates that are as interested as you are as solo drifting can be a short lived sport..
Electrics are where its at for Drifting.. they offer Plug and play fun with no Overheating during slow speed drifting.. Yes, Technical Slides happen at 10-15kph
If you would like to know more, shoot me a PM..

With the nitro engines what involved in tuning them?

I'd have to agree with Magnat on this. I've owned both nitro and electric, and electric definitely the pick, tho both are still great fun. Nitro's are dirty (the caster oil in the fuel coats everything which picks up dirt and dust) and when the motors don't want to start, it can really ruin your day. Running in a new motor is tedious and the consumables you need can start to add up - glow plugs, pistons , liners, batteries, fuel, clutches, starters etc.
Electrics have really come a long way now with brushless DC motors being more common (heaps more power and torque) and better batteries available. They will always go when you want them to.
Like I said, both are great fun, but if I was to get back into them, electric is the way I'd go.

The only thing that concerns me about electric is battery life.

how good would those RC drifters look if you could get a tyre that smoked on the rears!

Don't need smoke off the Tyres... Just the feel of kicking that tail out and keeping it out is enough (Electrics rule the drift hence no smoke)
Battery Life ?? a Properly set up electric will see you running all day with minimum down time..
When I do go RC offroading, a 3300mah Battery keeps me happy for 20mins.. then it pops onto my Charger and its Recharged in 40 mins. which by then my 2nd Battery has gone in... which lasts till the other has been charged and cooled ready to use.. So 3 Batts and your set for the Day...
If I am Drifting, a 3300mah Battery lasts me for close to 45mins.. so in the time I have gone pack dead, another is ready..
It all depends on how your set up as to how long you are left waiting..
Usually, the time an Electric is waiting is enough for it to cool the ESC and motor down anyway .....
As For tuning of Nitro's... There combustion engines, so Air tempreture affects there tunning ( Between warm days and cold days can throw off their Idle and fuel mixture ratios)
This can lead to swear words and cursing for the rookie who doesn't know how to tune and maintain a nitro..

What sort of motors you using Magnat? I used to have some 11 and 13 turn motors which really hauled arse (got bloody hot too) but the favorite was the 27T (IIRC) which had loads of torque. I also discovered early that to get the most out of them, you can't skimp on the batteries. I paid around $120 for a high output sanyo 2400 and it was the best money I could have spent.

I have a Savage 25 and have to say its the best fun you can have but, and i say this not to complain, its a bitch to set up, when it is working and it actualy starts its more fun than a bag full of frogs.
Oh and you will have a hard time breaking the Savage they are hard as.
