I have a 1999 2.8 ltr triton non turbo diesel cab chassis 4x4. My question is that it lacks power up hills. It just dies and doesn,t pick up. Is there any way that i can improve the power of the vehicle. i cant afford an after market turbo as they are approx $4000 fitted. I have heard that if i fit extractors and a 2in exhaust system or bigger it will improve it some what. Hoping someone out there may be able to help me.

yeh mate i have the 97 triton non turbo diesel with the 4m40 motor.
i had a 2.5inch exhuast with wildcat extractors and the fuel air ratio adjusted and on the dyno i gained 23%. if you do get it done serisly consider a tuning aswell, probly half the problem to begin with. it is gutsier sounds great ( i had a resonator put on too) and better on fuel too.
wish i had a turbo tho.

i test drove a complete stocker 2.8 non turbo and didnt buy it for that reason, but i know aftermarket turbos solve that, but agro is right, if you help it breathe and get it tuned better that will give you alot more due to the little it has stk
