Hi Fellers ! just on the off chance any one might have some ideas..

i was travelling north last night, Townsville to Cairns, but only got to ingham, at which the 1HZ just died out on the highway. just cut out.
Started once but will not again. Towed back in to Ingham now!.

Heaps of fuel. Fuel filter (Racor)6ths / 10000kms. Primes ok still.

1hz turns over with heaps of gusto, but will Not start ?!?!

I was thinking if there is a fuel solenoid cut off switch that may be playing up ?!?! thoughts ??!?!

Neeeeeeeeeeed to get this going !! lol long wk end and all !!lol

Any idaes would be greatly appreciated.

That happened to my dads 1HZ once, just died in traffic. Turned out a negative terminal had fallen off a solenoid or something like that on the motor on the passenger side. Have a good look arond check for any broken wires etc

A friend of mine has just had the same problem and it turned out to be the fuel cut off solenoid...Sounds about the same to me????

A mates GQ did the same. Fuel solenoid died... it's a good place to start looking.
My 80 died on the way to work one day.. the fusable links off the Pos battery terminal broke. Without them the fuel solenoid just shuts off.

ok .. thanks guys ..

.... yes sounds like the first place to start .... have power to the solenoid .. but itself might be cactus huh !!??!

its to be towed to Townsville at 0830hrs monday morn ... so might try again to check it over then .... RACQ flatterened the battery checking for it before I arrived at the depot today ... oh well ...

Does any one know if the fuel cut solenoid can be replaced in situ ? (if its the problem) ?!???

thanks in advance

cheers

The solenoid for the or in the fuel pump i should say should be no more than an hours job. Had this prob myself. Fuel pump overhaul- (not cheap) next day 300km later your prob occured.
Fix- solenoid in fuel pump

Gday mate,

not good to hear, check to make sure you have 12 volts at the injector pump, 1hz need voltage to operate. i would then check to make sure ectic motor is operating correctly. And last check the electrical plugs where the fuel soloniods operate for switching between tanks. sometimes they can become un-plugged and hence no fuel.

good luck:)

I found that even on 24V trucks, a single 12v battery was enough to trip the fuel solenoid. Yeah, really easy first check, not too sure what it's like on a 1hz tho'.
