About the same on fuel as a non turbo TD42.

SImilar amount of poke but the RD28 feels like it goes better thanks to the sound effects from the turbo! QUite easy to make the RD28T go better but seems to affect lifespan & will affect fuel economy. RD28 is a smoother and quieter motor than the TD42 and can provide a more relaxing drive than the dinosaur 4.2 (assuming you're OK with how slow they move!).

Personally I'd go a petrol GQ on LPG nowdays. If the engine shits out its easier to put a real engine in there (patrol engines might be quite tough and reliable on the whole but they're not powerhouses and are all quite thirsty for their power outputs).

Mate I've recently got a gu rd 28 and i love it i had a v6 4runner on gas and the turbo diesel is soooo much better in terms of driveability. My old man has a 4.2 gq ute and the rd 28 does move quicker than his td 4.2 the acceleration is faster and smoother and if u can manage to drive in boost the power is pretty good. Mate fuel economy i put in 63 l of diesel and travelled 618 km's before the light came on. I am quite happy with the power performance and economy of the rd28.

Cheers
