I too go up DI and I usually spend about an hour and a half blasting the underneath and rest of the car then was it with hot soapy water and It seems to do a pretty good job. a couple of days later i give it another go with the hose as usually you miss a couple of bits and they seep out so you can wash them away. I have the stuan washing spray gun (air version with the attachment for the salt assualt but have not yet used the salt assualt. The spray gun works a treat.

Just set a sprinkler up under your 4by and let it do the work. ;)

i purchased a "tractor" type sprinkler (50 odd bucks from big W) that drives itself along the hose, i usually set the hose up so the sprinkler does a u turn under the lux but i was wondering if that would be enugh? the local suplier of salt assault recons he sells heaps of the stuff but i have my reservations that it does sfa and that flushing with water would be the best thing? thanks for your input guys as it reassures me i am doing the right thing

I get up to rainbow and bribie no where near as much as I would like.
Haveing said that when I am up there Im up there for 2 weeks, I stay in a place which doesnt have any wash down facilities.
I spend the 10 bucks on the under car wash down the road from the twantin ferry, this knocks most of the sand and salt off the truck.
When it gets home its out on the lawn and give it a blasting with the massojet (no air) then put the sprinkler under it for about an hour and then washing polishing, vaccunming.
Repeat the vacuuming after a week as the rodeo seems to have a sand gland somewhere in the cab, sand just reappears from "nowhere" regardless of how well you cleaned it the first time.
Seems to pay dividends if you wash it and give it a good waxing and polishing BEFORE you go, salt ETC washes off a bit easier.

I know what you mean about a sand gland because it doesn't matter how much you vacuum it still seems to have sand in the carpet hey. best thing if possible is take the carpets out and give them a good shake.
Sand Grabba mats are good to for inside.
also considering after you have been beach driving that if it rains soon after you have been on the beach go for a good drive around in the rain on the bitumen and thru as many puddles as possible to get some fresh water into all the nooks as well. that will also help to flush out the sand and salt.

I wash the outside as normal and I live near a flood way that floods quite often so I give it a good few runs thru there. Good fun too ;D

thats why in my toy I have a poor mans interior.
Open the doors take out the mats and turn on the hose.
works a treat and is good for mud as well, bloody sand gets into everything. I had sand pilled 4" high on my chassis on the weekend after a day out playing with Gidget and Grommet. Sand galore thru the rig so I gave it a hose out when I got home. ;D
