they are the main 2 reasons it happens on a 60......you may find you didnt bend selector enough
..take the boot off and engage low how close is the selector to the body...and when in low gave it a tap towards nuetral is it only just engaging or goes it need a decent tap..
..does it have a small movement between N and L
im guessing you still need to bend stick more.... or you didnt get the angle of bend quite right and you may need to make the bend lower ( is it bend below floor level)
And with the boots removed , try driving it in Low r and see if the same issuse are there, if the bend was not quite enough, then the boot will offer a little bit more resistance to shifter

Mine was doing that too. But that was due to a broken passenger engine mount. Would pop out and give me low rwd! Made it fun getting off a hill when the only other car with me was a zook that couldnt even get up the start of the hill (no names at Brunswick for you playing at home, now flattened  ).
But a new mount sorted that.
As for body lift... i never bent the shaft? I just cut away the body and dont run a boot anymore (neatly cut floormat to stop the water splashing in)
