Has anybody changed their spark plugs in their 3.4L V6 hilux. I need to change mine (120k service), but it looks like I have to take the entire inlet manifold off to do it. THIS I DONT WANT TO DO.
Is there a special way to take out the spark plugs. I even have the tool that comes with the took kit to remove them, but I dont know how to do it without removing the inlet manifold.

Gday. i have a 2004 v6 and just changed the spark plugs. i only had to remove the air intake to the throttle body to get them out. Nothing real major. It was a bit tight but i didnt take the whole intake off. Hope this helps

Only the air intake need to come out (the black hoses only), some find it easier to remove the stay on the passenger side cylinder head.

I have to agree with the previous two posts, just remove the rubber air intake to the throttle body.
02-sr5, dont tell me this is the first time that you changing the plugs is it?
I thought they were meant to be changed every 40,000kays?
or did the dealer do it until now?
get some good ones when you do it.

Yep, allways had it serviced by Toyota. I hate working on new trucks, they are a pain in the arse. Especialy changing the oil filter on a Toyota 3.4L V6.

Yeah tell me about it. You have to dive from the front under neath the alternator and bend your wrists into wierd positions.
I once rounded off the oil filter with a worn oil filter socket.....MAAATE!
what a head ache then. Had to get underneath with a really long screwdriver and bash it through the filter to help twist it off.
made sure after that that I bought me own new socket for the filter and looked after it so it wouldnt happen again.

That is how mine happend too. Must be a Toyota thing. I still cant get the spark plug tool into the passenger side head to remove the spark plugs. Im using the one that came in the tool kit of the car.

mate, if I had time, Id come over and help ya but being a long weekend, I cant. if ya can wait, maybe next weekend come past and we'll fix it up?
I got the spark plug sockets that fit, and extensions that have a wobbly fitting on the end to allow better aproach to the plugs.
