hi guys,
as above i am finally putting in the pro locker i got off ebay.
it came with an ARB air locker compressor. i am after tips on where to mount the compressor and the locker switches. does anyone have any pictures of their locker switches mounted in their hilux and also pics of how they mounted the compressor.
i have 2 dash switch panels on the right of the steering wheel near the dimmer switch, however the spottie switches are there and i am always bumping them when i get in and out so they are out really so dont suggest them. has anyone put a remote filter on the compressor? as i have not tested the compressor yet are they noisy?

hey ,

i currently have my compressor behind my back seat on the pasanger side just next to the jack, havent really used it as yet apart from pumping up a bike tyre or two,

i looked into putting it in the engine bay but not alot of room to fit much more on the Turbo desiel

cheers Pete

I too have my little compressor sitting behind the back seat. Not a fan of compressors under the bonet. My switches are on the right side of the dash where those switch cut outs are, I think where you were saying your spotties switch is. Apart from the cutouts, I dont know where you can put the switches.

i am thinking i may put the switches in where the spottie switch is. i am also thinking about putting the compressor in the between the tray liner and the outer well body if you know what i mean.there is a cavity there with heaps of space i think.

I have my ARB compressor mounted in the engine bay..
Main reson is because i didnt want the noise in the cabin.
Theres some pictures of it in my build up thread!

As for the switches, well i have the three of them (compressor, front locker, rear locker) mounted to the right of the steering wheel where the blank switch panels were.

No complaints so far!

i dont use my air con, so i put my switches here. Along with my winch controls.

The navi has good access to the lockers too

ok so i finally got around to wiring up the compressor. i have the switches poking through the dash for the mean time. i am planning on getting a 3 switch plate from ARB. i have wired the lights up to accessories so they are on even without the head lights on. has anybody else done this or do you not reccomend it ?
will this setup chew through bulbs etc?

I had a basic switch for my compressor which turned the lights on the locker switches. That lets you know that the lockers are charged and ready. Find a spot where you can smack the switch whilst being thrown around the track. Nothing worse than having to look for a switch
Try and rubber mount the compressor. Makes a big difference to noise.
I don't think you can fit an external filter for the ARB compressors... I think... That was one of the reasons I got a Twin Tongue... it has 1/4" BSP fittings for the inlet and outlets ports. I plumbed the inlet into the airbox after the filter.

i put some rubber under the compressors steel plate, as it is behind the back seat on the passenger side, i wanted it as quite as possible.
it seems very quite.
i thought about putting a switch in for the lights as they do seem to make the switches hot.

ahh ok so the switches must be able to withstand the heat.
