I have a 100 series and am looking at putting a full length roof rack on, it has been recommended to go with the Oval Tradesman...
Can one help me with comments as to noise, and increase full consumption, and is this one any good, or should I be looking at an ARB one, or Opposite Lock.
Thanks for your guys

Who makes the Oval Tradesman?

We've got a TJM alloy basket. It was originally for my 80 but has been modified to fit on the 105 with the full 150kg rating. The nose cone makes a big difference to noise. Not really sure about extra fuel consumption because it's only on with the car is full loaded for a trip.

A mate that does boat repairs made the nose cone out of alloy... then had the whole thing powder coated.

TJM do make these for the 100's and they bolt straight in and look good... I modified the one I had because it was cheaper.

i've got one of the arb 3/4 racks on my cruiser and will say that you can hear the wind noise when your cruising down the highway. i'm used to it now but wondered what the hell it was when i first heard it. as for fuel consumption, don't know i have never removed it since i first got the vehicle, though a mate does remove his cause he says it helps alittle and you don't get the wind noise. the arb ones are a little bit heavy so he hoists his up to his shed roof, to remove normally is not really a one person job if you value your paintwork.
only downside to the rack i have (which looks similar to one pictured above but without mesh floor) is that when stacking long things on it for work ie: aluminium planks and timber, you have to sit them ontop off the rack instead of on the floor area of the rack as the bars at the front and back get in the way. but when you tour these same bars that get in the way are also very helpful for holding stuff in, so it's one or the other unfortunately. if you use the rack aolt for carrying long stuff then a roofrack bag would help when touring if you choose the rack that only has side bars on it.
hope that helps abit.
