I was driving my 93 Lux (LN106,2.8 diesel) yesterday along the highway in 5th gear when i started hearing a high speed, loud 'clicking' (not quite clicking but i don't know how else to describe it) noise coming from my gearbox. I can feel a slight vibration in the gearstick that co-incides with the noise. Its only in 5th gear, the gear still provides drive to the car but the noise is that loud you wouldn't drive in 5th at all. All other gears work perfectly fine, as does the hi/lo 4wd.
I am probably looking at pulling the box next weekend now.but before i do i was wondering if any of you guys have had any such problems, and if there are any tricks to getting that heavy-looking box out?
Cheers people.

gday mate.
lux's tend to have a weak 5th gear, well the older one anyway. trivks to getting it out? gregorys manual will help (if you go to other lux gbox thread in yota section theres a copy of the manual in there. but a slightly diff gbox)
trolly jack that can reach gearbox is handy so u dont have to man handle it.
it will probably be easier to pull the transfer case out with it to, then trying to unbolt them from each other under the car. gearstick has a ring around it u push in and twist to remove the stick and the transfer has a circlip (i assumed they would be the same but they wernt took me a while to work that out)
while you have box out check the condition of your clutch and flywheel. and check the gearstick locating pins arnt loose on top of the gbox as these have a tendancy to snap or come loose with no warning. quiet fun to try and find a gear then.

Dont Forget To Replace The Thrust Bearing And The Little Bearing In Your Flywheel That The Gearbox Input Shaft Goes Into. I Forgot The Name Of That Little Bearing.
