Im thinking about replacing my 2H with a 12HT & am just after some info.
Can I use existing engine mounts, alternator, power steer pump,radiator/fan shroud and do I need a vacuum assist clutch master cyl?
Whats involved in changing the engine stop from electric to vacuum & also what is involved in setting up the pre heat screen, (can it be wired through the glow plug relay?) I havent seen anyone do this conversion on a 75 before but ive heard its possible. Any help would be great.

sco_aus, did you get to see inside your 12HT? I've heard a lot about how it's supposed to differ from the 2H, but never heard any first hand accounts.

Unfortunately not. I know they have a different head and I believe a slightly different stroke and imagine different compression, but I dont know the details. I'll ask when at the workshop on Wednesday as i'm curious too. It will be on Wednesday that I find out the rest of the info too.

g'day gents
Any posts on the 12HT certainly get my attention. Gotta love that engine. Rebuilt mine in the garage at home about 18 months ago. Bit sad when I got it, as it had a broken piston, seized bigend and was all sludged up. Picked it up for a grand at the wreckers out of an HJ61 manual. Now its powering the shorty real nice. Still kicking myself that I didn't take any pics at the time - too concerned about getting it right the first time ($$$). Some installed engine pics on the FJ40 Thread tho.
After stripping and rebuilding it myself, imho a fantastically strong and beautifully made engine. Bulletproof. Regarding the pre-heat screen - I never bothered as it just seemed too hard to wire into the 40's electrics. Turned out I've never needed to pre-heat it anyway, as being a direct injection engine, it always starts first kick whatever the outside temp! No probs at all on a frosty morning using HPR Diesel (treacle) - don't know about snow tho.
cheers
Oliver
