Can the hilux tailgate support 2 dirtbike back wheels?

Gday,

I have a hilux that i bought for carting my dirtbikes, it is an 84 dual cab.

The bikes will sit with the back wheel on the very end of the tailgate and i dont like the looks of those flimsy support bars for it.

Does anyone know of the best way to strengthen it? I have seen some hilux's getting around with a rockslider lookin thing going around the back, with rubber strips on it i assume for the tailgate to rest on. Where would i go about finding one of these, and what are they called?

Yes it will take it piss easy, don't forget its only half the weight of the two 100kg (or so) bikes, and when you ratchet the front down it pulls all the weight forward anyway.

I've never had a drama with myne. Mainly only carry one bike these days, but was doing two early on.

weve had 2 bikes on a 06 lux with no dramas. see older lux's getting around with bikes all the time. but pretty much wat emms4runner said

i cant see why not when we go to the footy 3 blokes sit on the back of the tail gate and it hasnt broken yet lol

Should be fine... I had a bike on mine over very rough terrain and it didn't bother it at all. Made sure the back wheel was tied down very tightly aswell so there was no bounce...
