View Full Version : Checking for error codes on 2.7 hilux engine

I've almost completed an engine conversion, putting a 2.7i hilux engine (2000 model I think) into my 93 4Runner. The engine however runs a little rough, idleing high for a few minutes before dropping in revs and almost stalling. I can recover this by feathering the throttle, but if I give it any decent amount of throttle, it dies and nearly stalls also.

I need to check if any trouble codes have been thrown, but how do you do this on these engines? Do they usually have an OBDII port under the dash? Coz I don't have one yet, and may have to wire one up if needed. And if I do need to wire one up, what wires are needed, or does anyone have a wiring diagram of this port? I've had a look at the diagnostic port under the bonnet, but it only has about 4 plugs populated… can't remember exactly what ones, I think it was B+, Tc, Te1, and 2 others that I don't remember. Basically it doesn't have the ones that the service manual specifies that need shorting to flash the codes.

Can anyone help?!

Thanks,
Simon
