don't use a heap of rev's to get going, especially not in low range, ya don't need it, you have effectively more than doubled your engine torque to the gearbox by going to low range.
Also check your gearbox /transfer case mounts, as they might be worn/broken, and only comes to notice with the doubling of engine torque going thru the box.

I would also check the engine mounts.
Just check also if there is any oil getting onto the clutch plates.
found the problem
Broken box mount :o ::)
Thanx 4 the help

I had a similar problem with my 60 series.
It ended up being the clutch slave cylinder (the seal had a small hole in it). Under harder conditions the clutch would shudder.
Since replacing the cylinder I haven't had the shudder again.
(I found out good Friday it was the seal when it gave out on the way up to Stockton beach).
For $35.00 it is worth a try (or you could check for leaking fluid at the salve cylinder - this is presuming the 40 series has a hydraulic clutch, I'm not sure)
