Drop drive shaft, remove big nut and stone guard, remove rubber seal, replace rubber seal, stone guard, big nut and drive shaft.

I forgot to mention you must clean everything before installing new seal!

About $5 from any bearing shop, make sure you mark the nut and shaft so you tighten it back to the same tension.
You don't want to collaps the spacer between the pinion bearings. :)

Dont worry about damaging the old one when you remove it (there is a puller for it). just dont scratch the metal surface it sits in. When installing the new one, use something as a shock absorber to tap the new one in place, but it must go in straight, so a big round thing like a street sign pole, or hardwood as example, with a long hole will do the job.

Looking at the pic of your old one in place,I`d say it has to go in some more.Hope the old and new seals were the same width, they should be but...I recently rebuilt the rear axle on my truck. The Toyota manual gave 145 to 175 kn as a tightening torque.Wich is dam tight.Got mine a bit over 145 and that took some effort.

No the nut would have had part of it bent into a grove on the shaft (To lock it in place) just do it up to the same place and re bend it into the groove as this will stop it comming loose and stuffing the ring and pinion (Inside the diff)
