View Full Version : Leaky Hilux

A mate has a current model Hilux and while going through a creek crossing, the water came gushing in at a great rate almost instantly through the kick panels on both sides. We've taken all the carpet, kick panels, etc out and have confirmed that is where it is coming from.
Can anyone out there tell me if this is normal or whether it has also happened to them? If it has happened, can you tell me if you spoke with Toyota about it and what they said.
Also, can anyone tell me if their 2007 Hilux does NOT leak in creek crossings.
Past experience in both Patrols and Lancruisers tell me this should not happen but Toyota seem to have a different idea...
Thanks.

Don't have any pics but if you remove the kick panels next to the pedals and the one on the other side in the passenger footwell beside the front door, it pours in from there and onto the floor. And I mean pours in...

Anyone? Even just let me know if your current model Hilux leaks in moderately deep water. ie tyre height?

got any wires coming in through firewall grommets that havent been sealed? maybe coming through them and following down into behind the kick panels. just a thought. havent had any complaints from customers here at our dealership.

Thanks for the replies. Yeh, he can see where it comes in but the dealer says it's normal (what a load of crap!)
My mate actually removed the kick panels, carpets, etc and drove into a creek and watched it fill from the bottom and pour in through the kick panels. It's like something should have been sealed but it wasn't.
Anyone else out there had a similar experience?
