Hi all,
No I am not a full time Tasmanian although I spend most of my time down here. I am originally from Victoria and yes I do love the mud.
My truck is a 79 Range Rover with stock everything. As I am a student I am unable to afford spending much money or time on her. I would like to once I have graduated start to do some major Mods to her though.
I would be interested to hear any suggestions as to the types of mods that I could do in particular to the engine.

More power is always better 8)
Welcome to the forum.
My advise to anyone wanting to mod their truck is to take it bush few times and then they'll know what they need, and in which order of importance

In my '78 Rangie, which I bought in about '82, I fitted extractors, removed air pumps etc. & replaced the CD's with a 500cfm Holley. This made it perform about the same as standard & use about 25% more fuel.
I then looked @ it properly and realised that for my purpose, towing racecars all over this country, that a set of P6 10:1 pistons, a mild cam, 350cfm Holley, electronic ignition along with the exhaust, gave me a great tow car.
Got busted on the Newcastle expressway, heading back north after an Amaroo meeting in about '85 with an enclosed trailer on the back with an FVee @ about 160kph & the Hi-way Patrol guy & I agreed that that speed made no sense and I should just go home.
That vehicle & Fraser Island have made sure that I've had a 4wd ever since.

The Holley sounds like a great Idea but many of my frends tell me that they do not work so well at strange angles.
could anyone tell me if this is true or not?

My 110 had a 3.5 with the LT95.
Now I have the LT 95 coupled to a P76 4.4 Block.
Removed liners - bored out and Toyota LC liners, BUICK V6 Pistons, bottom end ground and re-hardened - aftermaket 4 Bolt on bottom end caps. Crow Torque cam, Scorcher ignition, 3.5 Heads, 3.5 Manifold and rams horn system with SU's - BRC LPG system +++++++
Get about 200-220 K's out of $23 of LPG - 55L usable.
Petrol is another story.....
Only eats Optimax - either that or more pings than a wind chime in Tassie.. :) :) :) :)

I had a 350 holley fitted to my oneten and found that on really steep hills it would run the float bowl dry and stall.
I went back to the standard cd strombergs just after i fitted a new 3.9 block and have found them to run at all angles, give better economy, more power and I find them easier to tune and stay in tune longer.

County's were the last real landies.....
Sad but true. Since then you need the full complement of tools and electrical devices just to maintain them. Why change something that has lived with practicalilty as a moto for so long!!!!
Sales Down, Parts cost up, numbers of them on road down, peoples opinion down. All bad, very sad...... :'(
