hey there, i'm wanting to fit a surf turbo to my 2.8 hilux. i have the turbo and manifold but no plumbing and i would like info on mods to get oil to the turbo and what to use for plumbing ect. any ifo at all on this fitment would be great, the more detail (and pics) the better! als is it possible to use the boost compensater of the surf fuel pump on the 2.8 fuel pump? cheers:drink:

first of all chack if your turbo manifold fits your 2.8 (3L) motor if it is a turbo manifold form a 2.4 (2L) than it will not fit. roumor has it that the early 2.8 heads may fit the 2.4 manifold, not too sure about a 2.8 - 3.0L manifold difference,

also your oil lines might have to be braided if you want to put a mod plate on it when your done, was told it was a requirement, dont know about other states.

i believe your pick up your oil from the oil pressure sensor by use of another banjo fitting and return oil into sump via oil line outgoing from alternator oil pump.

exhaust pipe might be an alternative for a DIY job and silicone connector hoses can be found cheap on Ebay.

thanx voids, i wont be fitting it up for a while as i have swivel hub bearings and rego to worry about first. plenty of time to chase info but trying to figure if it is worth using gear i have or buying a proper kit for it. did you fit the turbo to yours by chance?, if so was it much trouble?

the line th runs from the top of the turbo then runs along the front of the motor is the water in hose. hose at back heading to fire wall is water out. hose on the top near back of turbo heading down the side is oil in and hose on bottom of turbo is oil drain hose.

voids ive had my ute deregistered then relicenced again and had to go over for veichle inspection. they never said anything about the turbo or alot of other things but thats here in was so may be different rules or lazy inspecter

yer first time round i picked up a turbo setup for mine from ebay seller advertised it will fit a 2.4, 2.8 and 3.0, found out the hard way that (2L)dosnt fit My 3L due to different stud mounting on the head. so sent it back and got my money back no dramas.
Wasnt going to worry bout a turbo only because i picked the last one up cheap, but one night couldnt overtake a truck going into town so the turbo idea was back on. I rang up to order a kit but for the sake of $600 fitting i just had it fitted at the shop,

The mod plate was part of the fitting and i got this done by an engeneering station that i knew the owner, he told me that the lies had to be braided which mine where, so dont know what the go is there.
