Get it flushed and it shouldn't be a issue.

Somebody correct me if im wrong, but yes it will be a problem. The diesel tank has no breather line to your carbon canister. only a pickup and a return line in the diesel tanks.
As far as the tank itself goes, as said just give it flush and im sure they are the same.

iv got a diesel engine in a petrol cruiser, the only prob i had was going to the servo for the first time, the diesel pump wont fit in the unleaded filler neck DOH! although you goin the other way around, maybe go to a 4x4 wreckers and compare?

Flush is not necessary - just drain it.

yer mate using diesal, tank will only need to be drained and to make the authoritys happy put a filler neck reducer in so only unleaded nozzels will fit. not sure on the peneltys but i think there pretty server if caught without one. as stated above tank should be vented through a carbon canister.
