Was wondering if there was any differences in the injector pumps fitted to non turbo 1HZ motors? Would a pump from a 1999 79 series fit and work on a 100 series 1999 1HZ and if so, what is different?

Cheers :)

It's highly likely that there are differences, as specifications and part numbers change for the pumps regularly. And a 100 series 1HZ manual would have a different pump to an auto, etc.

However, swapping with the same year model should work fine. The 100 series pump will have the immobiliser module on the rear though.

I can remember something about early model 1HZ pumps having something different to late model pumps. They are all Bosch VE pumps but theres a million different settings so a trip to the injector pump shop could be on the cards...

dont waste your time . the 1oo's are electronic and 75/80 series are not.

Sorry mate, a 1999 100 series 1HZ only has the imobiliser on it (which can be removed), otherwise it's a conventional mechanical pump.

The electronically controlled 1HD-FTE engine only came out in Aust. in September the following year.

Mine's a Denso. Maybe they went to Bosch later

Nah, all the Toyota's are Denso.

But I believe Robert Bosch developed the VE style pump, and other companies make / copy them under licence.

Ah yes - that would explain it. When I was chasing up Viton seals for mine they told me that they were virtually identical, and many of the Bosch seals fit the Denso

Okay, decided to fit 78 series pump.
Started and idled but would not rev as timing was too advanced. Worth a try as the pump was near new and paid 800 for it.
Have since rebuilt and fitted original pump to vehicle.
Been a lot of drama. It began when i cooked the engine and cracked the head so i fitted a new head. On start up the car would start after priming and then shut down after a short time. Car appeared to be sucking air some where but could not trace it. Had 2 diesel shops look at it and they both said it was the fuel pump. Decided too replace or rebuild it as it had done 300 thousand without any work. After fitting rebuilt pump, same problem! but this time the shop told me to check the washer under the fuel rail return line as if they are left out it can suck air from there.
On checking there were two washers there which were blocking off the two small return holes in the washers and the injector was hydraulic locking!
Wish he told me that first, would have been cheaper.
Thanks for the comments.
Cheers
