hey. does anyone know how to depressurise the fuel system in order to change the fuel filter on a 03 holden rodeo. or whether it needs depressurizing at all.

and separate question. should the fuel pump housed in the tank ocassionally cut in while the truck is parked and locked (ie no keys in ON positions). possibly keeping the mechanical pump on the engine with enough pressure to make it turn over first click.

This info is bas eon the toyota fuel system, but a rodeo should be similar at the bottom of the fuel filter there should be a little drain for draining out water from the fuel bowl., Just open this and you should be right.

You could always start the engine and unplug the direct wires going to the fuel pump first.

i have not come across a fuel system that i have had to depressurise to replace the fuel filters before. the filters will be before high pressure side of things and will be at the pressure of the electric pump you can hear cutting in and out in your tank you are talking of. this will be on the low pressure side of things

but to know for shaw with what your doing, have a read through the service manual.

also, the fuel pump you can hear cutting in with the ignition off does not sound right to me, but i have no experiance with the vehicle so i maybe wrong, only guessing from experiance of other veicles i have worked on
