Last night I saw ACA run another story about 4b's again. I noticed that 90% of those they spoke to were the women form Sydneys upper middle class who live in the Mosman area. It seems that we have to by our 4b's to make up for our shortfalls in other areas or to make us feel tough (GRRRR). The female purchases of 4b's get them because they just like to sit up high so they can see the road. No once did they approach any 4b club for their input into the story. In addition we are according Mr Scooby Doo one of the most dangerous vehicles on the road to day.
P.S thank you Wheels magazine for their contribution(not). >:(

Yeah I know but it still gets under my skin. It seems when they can't find a tear jerker story or some scandel they attack us instead. Nothing like good quality reporting. :P
wheels mag didnt help or cause at all, and as for that clown scruby i cant write what i think about him here ;D

I hear that Mr Cadogan also had a bit to say in that as well.

A quote from "Bogged"
you realise that one of the dudes on that story apparently not on our side works for 4wd monthly.. - John Cadogan.

The one thing that stood out in the aticle was that all the people they interviewed there was none of the blue collar worker shown. Now I have nothing against the type of folks shown, but how often do you see the mosman residents shown on the TV out where we go to play.
I know bitter, bitter, bitter. ::)

edited cause I finally saw the above quote.
the media can put what ever spin they want on a story, it just sucks when the spin they put on this topic is against us.

Cadogan: People love driving four wheel drives, it gives them a feeling of empowerment. You sit up higher than the rest of the traffic and you don't get intimidated.
Reporter: So it's a bit of a case of mines bigger than yours?
Cadogan: Absolutely. You get forced off the road and intimidated if you're in a little car and you're also, in elite suburbs, you want to be in charge, don't you.
Reporter: John Cadogan from Wheels Magazine enjoys four wheel driving, but in the right places.
Cadogan: I like driving four wheel drives offroad, that's what they're designed for. If you're just dropping the kids off and just driving around the streets of Sydney it's complete overkill and it's also very unfriendly to the owners of small vehicles should you crash.
I dont know . . . his comments look pretty straight forward to me ::)

this was the extract i had read
For the record, this is what Cadogan actually said;
Cadogan: People love driving four wheel drives, it gives them a feeling of empowerment.

Cadogan: One of the problems is car manufacturers are making four wheel drives more and more car like. People drive them more and more like cars but the laws of physics haven't changed and they still weigh two and a half tonnes. They're harder to stop.
There were other people interviewed, but that is all that Cadogan had to say. Harold Scruby had a fair bit to say, but his final comment was this:
Scruby: They certainly have no place in suburbs like Mossman or Toorak, They're for the bush and that's where they should be.

Not everything he said was incorrect , but these ones . . .Reporter: So it's a bit of a case of mines bigger than yours?
Cadogan: Absolutely. You get forced off the road and intimidated if you're in a little car and you're also, in elite suburbs, you want to be in charge, don't you.
and
If you're just dropping the kids off and just driving around the streets of Sydney it's complete overkill and it's also very unfriendly to the owners of small vehicles should you crash.
What a crock ?
Seriously , HOW is that misquoted ?
For a guy that WORKS for a 4WD MAG , I would have thought he would have at least made sense.

The thing I find more funny was they quoted him to be working for wheels, rather than a 4wd magazine, where he would have been seen to have more credos.
BTW the media must be bored again if they have to keep on digging up these pathetic arguments.
im not going to read anymore of his articles, personally i think 4wd monthly should sack him.
