last night somwhere inbetween 10.15 and 5.30am some prick stole my set of lightforce XGT light with blue combo covers they took both and would have taken then about 10mins to take both the wires where clean cut so look like they knew what they wanted. nothing eles was touched. my car was parked under the street light which make it more unbelevable. i also notice the locks on the doors where lose and MAY have been trying to get in. i am a 2nd year apprentice and my hard earned money went into them. i live in plumpton/glendenning. anyone with any info please email me. every little bit counts

Try doing the rounds of the Cash Converter and Pawn shops in your area. Thieves are generally not very bright, thats why our jails are so full. I once had a heap of gear stolen from my old mans house. The cops were hopeless, so I went down to Cash Converters, about 3 ks away and Surprise, Surprise, got the lot back. If you pawn or sell something to one of these stores, you have to leave photo ID info with the store. The thieves actually got over 12 months jail as it wasn't their first offence, but the Pawn shop operator did his dough.
Best of Luck, but the area where you live is not exactly Double Bay and I would be very reluctant to leave my vehicle out in the street around there.
You could try getting a decent alarm fitted. You will be able to wire the spottys into the alarm system, just like you can with a car stereo and this may be your best insurance for the next set of lights.

Ok, most alarms will have a wire which is specifically for ensuring the safety of your stereo. It is connected to the metal part of the rear of the stereo unit, which is earthed thru the wiring of the stereo. If someone goes to steal the stereo, they have to cut all the wiring going to it in order to remove it from the dash. As soon as that happens the alarm will trip because that wire is now no longer earthed. You could do the same by using that wire and attaching it to the metal part of your spotties. Just make sure when you purchase an alarm it has that feature. I found a guy in the Trading Post who supplied and fitted my alarm for an absolute pittance (Muxin Car Audio-George Gu 0414 645 996). He will come to your house or work or wherever. I've got to say that his workmanship wasn't too crash hot (he just twisted wires together etc), but for the price he charged I would not have expected anything more. I just went around next day and soldered all the joints.

theres not metal on lightforce lights? only metal is the bolts and the wire.

Sorry to hear about your lights brendan,
All this talk of lightforce lights being stolen has got me worried:eek:
just the other day i was thinking what i could do about stopping bastards
stealing my lights and i had an idea i am going to drill a hole through the nuts & bolts and put a allan key screw through it with a lock nut on it roughly about 8mm if i do that to all it would make it a hell of a lot hard for them.
cheers

That really sucks man. I guess to help the rest of us, those who have had lights stolen were you using lock nuts (like barinuts) or some other form of security on them?
Another idea is to tack weld the end of the thread so you can't remove the bolts but you can still tighten them up if need be. Maybe mangling the end of the thread with a hacksaw could work too?
I use barinuts on my lights and am getting a mate to tack weld the end of the threads - not to say they won't be stolen but will probably deter the opportunistic thief.
