hi i am wondering if i can replace the transfer case in my explorer with a better one, aparently i cant get it rebuilt as it is a sealed unit according to one website.

i am also trying to find a good 4WD service center in country vic, i live just near Benalla, Wangaratta, Shepparton.

No you can pull the T/case down with a bit of time and patients to the best of my knowledge.

What is actually wrong with it.

:thumb: Hi Yes you can rebuild the T/case, on ebay USA you can buy a rebuild kit. I am not sure on price. A second-hand is about $1200.00 last time I checked.

will have alook,

atm its not going *sigh*

i went into 4L then i move a little bit to see what noises then nothing just like the transfer case disengaged so it just revs no movment. luky i am intown not out bush, but the other day when it first happend i was going up hill not to steep just a hill i was in 4L and then my bro infront stoped so i put it in park, then when we went again shifted it into 1st and went about a foot, and same thing like it went into neutral. so we turnd it around to go back down hill so i could roll. then stoped on the flat and when i put it into auto and drive it went again not a prob, but now that ive come back intown and tried to put it into 4L its stuffed again

Sounds like you selector Fork is stuffed or it is only pacherly going into Low range and dropping out back into neutral.

How many K's has it done
