Intercooler/chip kit on a 79

Just wondedring if any of yous have put a glycol to air intercooler and chip kit on a 79. I'm looking at getting this done in a couple of months. Denco cooler with a steinbauer chip.

Check out the denco website the do a package for the 1HD-FTE in the 79. On one of the dyno graphs for their kit it says it made approx 807 nm of torque!! This was achieved with a water to air intercooler, a power module (chip upgrade?) and probly winding up the boost. dunno how much though.

Might be worth giving them a ring?

G'day Punk_Cruiser. Yeh I've had a look at their site all seems imprsive but just wondering if anyone has first hand experiance with the kit. Even on a 105 series. Westend diesel are going to do it all for $3700.

If you put a chip on these engines it would be recomended to stick a pyro guage (EGT) in especilly if you tow or have a heavy foot as I have been told temps can go up around 700 to 800 degrees. Not good forthe wallet

.hey mate, i have been looking at he cooma diesel front mount ic kit for my 79. i have a rapid chip and i have just uped the boost to 15.5 lb recomend u doing it (192.3 rwhp) that was with 265 75s. with 315s 167hp. so with the ic yours would fly if its tuned right

tuff75, mate have you got a link to any pics or info on the front mount ic ya talking about? How are your egts running 15.5lbs? Seems like alot of boost ay! I'm planning on buggering off for 6 months in may so the truck still needs to be reliable.

I seen them on ebay for $2950. with the rapid chip best thing is u have a switch so u can have it off and when ever u want the extra power u just flick it on. i done 9000ks up the cape with a campertrailer and out piging in aug sep and oct and never faulted me once. ps they run about 12-13 lbs standard
