View Full Version : front end knock at full extention? (hilux ifs)

hey boys i fitted some front ball joint spacers to my hilux and i think i have notised a knock in the front end when the wheels are at full extention down? do ya think this could be my shocks bottoming out? i have ironman foam cell shocks?

Could be, suppose the only real way to check is to measure with the shock in, measure with the shock out, if there is now more travel with the shock out, there is the problem, if it doesnt, keep looking I suppose.

I cant see how a ball joint spacer can gain more travel though, as the rubber bump stops havent moved, the the range of movement hasnt changed. Maybe something is loose that wasnt tightend up properly maybe.

Yes the range of movement has been increased. More down travel is available!

just check ur steering stops try putting some grease on them and see if the nosie goes away

Ok, I can see where you are comming from, but still cant see how it increases travel, because where you have the top control arm, the space between the bump stop and the control arm hasnt increased, the picture shows the lower control has been lowered and pushed away from the lower bump top by 25mm, hence the 25mm lift only, but you are still only restricted by the movement of the upper control and the factory bump stop.
(edit) looking at it again, you will only gain an increase of up travel, not down due to the upper control making contact with the bump stop because it has the same distance to travel (downward) as before.
