Dont Let the fact that it is Battery powered fool you. There Brilliant.
The Highlift is a Highly prized and highly sort after truck.. It is a Scale RC meaning that every detail is included.
The Diffs are scale, it even comes with a 3 Speed gear box which offers excellent speed control and they are really good Rock climbers and with water proof Electrics Excellent at mud work..

$599 is the Kit price but you would be looking at At least $800 -$900 once you have added the Electronic Speed Controller and radio Gear to it..

Unfortunatly this kit isnt new. The only new part on it is the body. I have a tamiya high lift ford f350 wich is exactly the same except for the body.
Its awsome fun with diff locks as well, although you have to pull those big diff covers off and put in a grub screw to activate them, but very fun to build and drive. Took me two weeks to build the chassis etc then another few days to paint and put stickers on the body.

Yeah pitty they cant make a coil sprung version and add some wagon tops for em also, and hurry up and make a winch to attach where that silly bar is on the front.

Looks pretty good. It is an RN36 Hilux body which is 1979 to 1981.

Too bad they didn't just re-release the original Hilux kit. This one isn't as "to scale" - I mean WTF is the huge silver dollar diff cover supposed to be scale for? The original had beautiful scale size diffs that rocked. Apparently they had atrocious handling but I think most buyers of these scale vehicles are less interested in racing them as they are in enjoying the scale realism.

And it's a pity that Tamiya are so expensive - the kit is the cheapest bit! As Magnat said, you more than double the price once you get it rolling with electrics.

The diff covers are reminicent of the ford f350. I saw a real one the other day and it had similar big chrome diff cover or casing as is used in this kit. I agree the old tamiya kits were awsome as they actually were 2x4, 4x4 selectable with free wheel hubs.

I had a look around at some of the other ones and came across the FJ40. Take a look at the video they have at the bottom of the page...

they look good in the pictures but look better in person all built up the only thing i dont like about them is the rear steering.

Rear Steering is very handy when rock crawling.

The High lift and the Hilux are Two RC's I wouldn't mind adding to my RC Collection but I cannot justify the $1200 price tag for a High lift with V8 sound controller and Shaker unit...

those shaker units and v8 sounds are made i used to be in the boat club on the sunny coast rc club that is, cummins diesel v8 sound controller in one of the patrol boats, it used to sound like a Mack truck flying past you was so realistic, i still love the old hilux and bruisers tho so so scale:thumb:
